Xiamen-Gulangyu Cup 2020 Cancelled
The Xiamen-Gulangyu tournament is regarded as one of the biggest social tens rugby tournament in China, but the organisers of the Xiamen Gulangyu Tens decided to cancel the event despite getting the go-ahead from the Chinese officials, although with some restrictions.
The organising committee said they would not be allowed to have a social party and spectators would not have been allowed to attend if they did go ahead. They hope to hold the rugby tournament again in 2021.
The Xiamen Typhoons Rugby Football Club usually organise and host the tournament. Sixteen men’s rugby teams were involved in the 2019 edition of the rugby tournament.
Social rugby in China
Like the rest of the global rugby calendar and community, Chinese social rugby has been put on hold for some months due to COVID-19 but there are signs of the rugby events going ahead there, sooner rather than later (if we are being optimistic).
