Abu Dhabi World Schools Festival 2024

After being held in Thailand for the past two years, the Abu Dhabi World Schools Festival (ADWSF) will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in mid-December for the 2024 edition.

In May 2024, the organisers confirmed the change of venue and that they were expanding the tournament into more of a sports festival which we have seen happen at a number of other events such as the Algarve 7s and the HSBC World Rugby SVNS legs.

The timing of the WSF 2024 however is a couple of weeks or so after the Emirates Dubai 7s 2024 (Friday 29^th November – Sunday 1^st December 2024) which usually kickstarts the HSBC World SVNS Series and that is a massive sports festival with a number of sports and rugby divisions across all levels.

Online, the WSF organisers said, “We are excited to announce this year’s World Schools Festival will officially be held in Abu Dhabi! We are proud to partner with Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub as the host venue for all events taking place between the 14th – 21st of December 2024.”

There are now expected to be 50 teams across 4 sports, 800 players from 12 countries involved.

The new sports in addition to Rugby XV’s & 7’s are:

• Cricket Cup (boys & girls)
• Hockey (boys & girls)
• Netball (girls)

The tournament has since announced partnerships with SA School Sports (Media), and Rhino MENA as the official kit supplier for the 2024 Abu Dhabi World Schools Festival.
