World Rugby Awards 2024 Nominees Announced
World Rugby has announced the shortlist of nominees for the World Rugby Awards 2024 in eight categories, which will be presented in Monaco on Sunday, 24 November.
28 international players have been selected in the women’s and men’s games and across Sevens and XVs rugby.
World Rugby Chief Executive Alan Gilpin said: “On behalf of World Rugby, I would like to warmly congratulate all nominees selected today and thank them for their contribution to the advancement of our sport. In a calendar year that saw fantastic 15s tournaments and sevens competitions including a groundbreaking Olympics Games in Paris, they have shone brightly and inspired fans worldwide, showcasing the best of our sport and its values.
“We look forward to uniting our global family in Monaco for the fourth time under the High Patronage of H.S.H Princess Charlene of Monaco, and presenting a wider cast of winners with the ultimate accolades in rugby – the World Rugby Awards.”

World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year
SA Rugby president Mr Mark Alexander congratulated all the players for being nominated – the Springboks dominated the Men’s 15s Player of the Year nomination with three of four from South Africa.
“Having Springboks players feature in two categories is a testament to their hard work and dedication to the team and South Africa, and we are very proud of them. Each one of the Springbok players has shone out this season, and given the quality of the Springbok squad Rassie Erasmus has been building, I’m sure many more players could have been nominated.
Springboks Head Coach Rassie Erasmus added, “Making their nominations even more remarkable is that most of them have won two Rugby World Cup titles already and that they have continued to deliver the high standards we expect at the Springboks over several years.
Over and above that, we have used 50 players in our Tests so far this season, and to see them shine among the best players in the world is fantastic. We are extremely proud of them, and we wish them luck when the winners are revealed.”
