USA win the 2019 World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge in Tokyo
The USA won the 2019 World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge, which was being held in Tokyo, Japan at the same time as the Rugby World Cup 2019.

World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge 2019
The prestigious World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge is also held every four years, and in 2015 the US lost to Canada in the final. However this year the Americans beat Australia in the final 59-51. The home nation, Japan, claimed bronze and beat Great Britan 54-49.

Most of the days were sold out at the WWRC 2019 with over 6000 fans watching the games live at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Games were also streamed on Youtube. Find out more about Wheelchair Rugby on the IWRF FB page.
2020 Tokyo Olympics qualification
The IWRF Asia-Oceania Wheelchair Rugby Championships were also recently held in Korea to determine the qualifying nations from the Asia Pacific with NZ joining Australia and Japan at the 2020 Olympics in Japan.
Australia are the defending Paralympic wheelchair rugby champions, having won at Rio 2016 and London 2012. Japan won the World Champs, and also qualified for Tokyo as hosts.
