The Emirates Dubai Rugby 7s 2021 Going Ahead

The Emirates Dubai Rugby 7s 2021 will take place at The Sevens Stadium from 2nd-4th December, the organisers have reconfirmed. After celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, the festival will celebrate its 52nd year in 2021.

On September 3 2021, World Rugby announced changes to the 2021 and 2022 Sevens Series. Dubai will now host a back to back events.

The Dubai Sevens rugby tournament was initially announced back in January 2021 and the organisers said on August 1, 2021, that “The festival will include the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, invitational rugby, cricket, and Netball. Alongside the packed sporting schedule, there will also be an exciting array of experiences, entertainment, and music.”

Tom Burwell, the tournament Director said online: “Hugely excited to launch the Emirates Dubai 7s for 2021! We said 7s will return and it will this December; Bigger, Better, Bolder than ever! Our new Balearic day Bar, Beats on 2 overlooking the action on Pitch 2 or our EDM stage with international headliner, Frequency on 8, and of course all-time 7s favourites, Rugby Rock & the Heineken Tavern”.

The Emirates Dubai 7s also confirmed former England and Britsh and Irish Lions international James Haskell as an ambassador for 2021. The broadcaster and podcaster will play live DJ sets to entertain the crowds in Dubai.

Burwell added “This is the next evolution of what is already the best rugby 7s tournament in the world. We are so proud of our history. A festival of sport that offers something for all the family.”

Tickets for the Emirates Dubai Rugby 7s 2021 tournament will go on sale in September 2021 on www.dubairugby7s.com and the Emirates Dubai 7s App.
