SLRFU growing the game of rugby

The Sri Lankan Rugby Football Union and Rugby Asia have recently reported on a massive Get Into Rugby program run in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Rugby coaching and development team had partnered with MTV/MBC Network to “introduce, promote and develop the sport within schools in all districts and provinces around the country” claims the Asia Rugby report.

In addition, Dilroy Fernando, Training and Education Consultant for Sri Lanka Rugby said the following about the program:

• 25 districts visited in 26 days
• 5,414 participants of which 2,468 were female
• Programs are planned for nine provinces in the rest of 2019

The Sri Lankan national team is due to compete in the Asia Rugby Division 1 in Tapei later this year.
