Sir Gordon Tietjens Elite Coaching Course – Singapore 2023
Legendary Sevens Rugby Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens has been confirmed by the Singapore Rugby Union (SRU) to be in Singapore from 21-23 March 2023 to run the Sir Gordon Tietjens Elite Coaching Course.
Sir Gordon Tietjens most recently was the Head Coach of the Samoa Men’s Sevens team on the HSBC World Sevens Series but his claim to fame was as the NZ Men’s 7s team and he was rewarded with an induction to the IRB (now World Rugby) Hall of Fame in 2012.
The SRU have said “Attention all rugby coaches and enthusiasts! We’re proud to present the Sir Gordon Tietjens Elite Coaching Course. Join us from 21-23 March 2023 and learn from one of the greatest coaches in rugby history!”
With the All Blacks Sevens, he won twelve World Sevens Series titles, as well as the Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2001 & 2013, never mind the four Commonwealth gold medals!
After an unsuccessful 2016 Olympics campaign, Tietjens stepped down as the All Black Sevens coach and then joined Samoa before leaving his role in 2020 due to the uncertainty at the time over the global pandemic.
