Shanghai 10s 2021 Rugby Tournament

The Shanghai Rugby Football Club is hosting the annual Shanghai 10s 2021 on June 5, and the social rugby tournament will see teams from around China compete.

The rugby club said online that the tens tournament is “the city’s premier summer rugby tournament”. More than a dozen women’s and men’s teams have been confirmed for the tournament which will take place in Pudong, Shanghai.

The Shanghai Rugby Football Club (SRFC) was formed in 1881 and has since added a ladies section and the rugby club puts out teams named the Silver (1st) Green (2nd) and Pink (ladies) Dragons.

The SRFC are also founding members of the SRFA (Shanghai Rugby Football Association) and participate in CRFA (China Rugby Football Association) and WR (World Rugby) development programs.

Shanghai Silver Dragons Men won the Beijing Sino 10’s and the Shanghai Pink Dragons finished second in the Women’s competition on May 29 2021.

All China Cup Final 2021

It’s a busy month for one of the leading Chinese social rugby clubs as the Silver Dragons men will also play Guangzhou Rams RFC in the XVs All China Cup Final in June.

The SRFC beat the Dongguan Bulldogs R.F.C /Shenzhen Dragons 26-23 in Dongguan in the semi-finals on May 22 2021. The Rams had beaten the Beijing Aardvarks in their semi-final on May 15 2021.

Online, the club said “Incredible effort from the Silver Dragons secure the win 26-23 over the Dongguan-Shenzhen Bulldog Dragons (Southern Conference Champions). The team travelled with only 20 players and it took every player to come away with the victory. Shanghai will face the Guangzhou Rams in the All-China Cup finals.”
