Seoul Charity Dinner 2019: Beneficiaries
Last month, we confirmed the very exciting Seoul Charity Dinner 2019 which takes place at the end of August. The event is set to include 3 Rugby World Cup-winning speakers: Israel Dagg, Rod McCall and Joel Stransky. Now we have more information on who the charitable event benefits.
The Seoul Charity Event is running for the third time (previously in 2011 and 2015) and the organisers say it is “one of the most highly anticipated international events in Seoul.”
Who does the Seoul Rugby Charity Dinner benefit?
The Charity Dinner is set to support four “incredible charities supporting and promoting the use of sport and rugby to empower and develop the disadvantaged and disabled, in addition to building community and promoting rugby in Korea.”
Get Into Rugby Korea
The monies raised will be used by Get Into Rugby Korea to support the Korea Rugby Union’s programs around introducing more kids to the sport. The Get Into Rugby programme is “an integral part of the World Rugby strategy to grow the Game globally in partnership with its Regional Associations and Unions.”
Seoul Shelter for Women
Funds raised will also be used to support the Seoul Shelter for Women which “provides a safe, warm and caring environment in which to live.” In addition, they provide medical care, mental health counselling, as well as encouraging the women into self-support programmes where possible. The Charity Dinner specifically wants to sponsor sporting equipment to “support the physical wellness programme for the women at the shelter.”
Anna’s House Outreach Program Project
The event will use contributions to support a physical education programme for homeless boys at Anna’s House Outreach Program Project. This programme helps homeless youth in Seongnam City; an area on the outskirts of Seoul.
Myongdo Welfare Center
The Myongdo Welfare Center will benefit from the dinner as funds will support their physical education program for children with developmental disabilities. The Center which is located in Mokpo provides outreach services to 250 low-income families with various handicaps and needs.
Who organises the Seoul Rugby Charity Dinner 2019?
The dinner is being organised by the AusChamKorea (Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea), FKCCI (French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Kiwi Chamber of Commerce in Korea and the South African Chamber of Commerce in Korea. The Seoul Survivors Rugby Club are also involved.
