SANIX World Rugby Youth Tournament 2020 Cancelled
The SANIX World Rugby Youth Tournament 2020 joins the list of cancelled rugby and sporting tournaments it was announced this week. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, the school’s rugby tournament, which was due to be held from Tuesday, April 28 to Tuesday, May 5, 2020, has been called off.

An official statement from the organisers said: “It is with great regret we inform you that Japan Rugby Football Union and SANIX SPORTS FOUNDATION have taken the decision to cancel SANIX WORLD RUGBY YOUTH TOURNAMENT 2020, scheduled from Tuesday, April 28 to Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
The measure is taken due to the global outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The health and safety of players, staff and spectators is paramount to the organizing of the event, and since there are no definite means at this time to protect all concerned from the threat of COVID-19, we had to make this sombre decision.”
What is the SANIX World Rugby Youth Tournament?
The school’s rugby tournament is regarded as a very prestigious international schools rugby event and is traditionally held during the Golden Week holidays in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan.
