Rugby X London 2019: Results
The first international Rugby X event was held at the O2 Arena in London over the week from 29-30 October 2019, with a number of international women’s and men’s teams involved. The event was sanctioned by World Rugby.
What is X Rugby?
World Rugby says that X-Rugby is meant to offer:
- An adapted format of the game played on a half-pitch with reduced intensity contact.
- Designed to introduce new players to the game and retain those at risk of dropping out.
- Seven-a-side, easy to organise and offering fun and fitness.

Which teams played at the O2?
Six men’s and four women’s teams took part in London to play X Rugby.

X Rugby 2019 results
The Argentinean men’s team and English ladies won their events.
Los Pumas beat Ireland 25-15 in the final. Meanwhile, the England ladies played USA ladies in the final and beat them to secure the inaugural Rugby X event. The Red Roses beat USA Rugby 3-2 in a one-vs-one shootout after the game finished 20-20 after fulltime.

Asian Rugby Exchange Fest 2019
At the recent Asian Rugby Exchange Fest 2019 which was played in Japan during the Rugby World cup 2019, a number of Under 14 boys were coached in X-Rugby and played a tournament. Nine international teams and 7 Japanese teams played X Rugby.
