PRFU Welcomes New Board Members for 2025 – Outlines National Team Involvement in 2025

PRFU (Philippine Rugby Football Union) announced new board members for 2025 and also outlined their national 7s and 15s team participation for 2025.
The PRFU Board changes were made during the PRFU Annual General Meeting held on December 10, 2024, which was attended by clubs and stakeholders both in person and online. The PRFU said via a press release that the AGM was an opportunity to discuss “the successes of the year, the status of progress against their strategic plan, and laid out the plans for 2025.”
In 2024, the Men’s national 15s team signed on to compete in the second edition of the Unions Cup which got underway in 2024 between Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and the inaugural winners Singapore. The competition is due to be held in Chinese Taipei in June 2025 with the addition of the Philippines. There is hope there will be a Women’s completion in the future.
The Philippines women’s and men’s Sevens sides both won the Trophy Sevens Series to earn qualification back to the Asia Rugby Sevens Series in 2025.
PRFU President Ada Milby said, “In 2024, we are focused on strengthening the foundation of Philippine rugby, both at the elite and community levels. With the return of the Philippine Volcanoes to top division in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series and our continued participation in major tournaments like the SEA Games and Asian Games, we aim to inspire more Filipinos to take up the sport and represent the country with pride.”
The men’s and women’s 7s teams will compete in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series from September to October 2025 -followed by the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand in December. The sides are also preparing for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
PRFU Board 2025
Ada Milby begins her 3rd term as PRFU President while Chris Moriarty and Steve Mommaerts were reelected to their 2nd terms on the Board of Trustees.
Damon Freeman, a World Rugby Match Official Educator and Asia Rugby Citing Commissioner from Cebu City joined the board bringing his experience with the Brazil Rugby Union board and community engagement experience in Nepal.
David Feeney (2024 XVs Magellan Cup vice-captain and coach David Feeney) will represent the Men’s National Team, while Pearl Kellie (2024 Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy (AREST) vice-captain) will represent the Women’s National Team.
PRFU President Ada Milby said, “We would also like to thank outgoing trustee Phil Campbell for his contributions during his term and outgoing ex-officio Jake Letts for his more than two decades of passion and commitment to the union’s success.”
