Palestine Rugby Full Membership & Bahrain Associate Member of Asia Rugby

At the recently held Asia Rugby 2022 mid-year Council Meeting, the members unanimously agreed to grant Palestine Rugby Full Membership in Asia Rugby, while Bahrain now has Associate Member status. We also explore what else was decided by the governing body of rugby in Asia.

Palestine Rugby Committee president Rabie El Masri participated in the Asia Rugby Mid-year Council Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgystan (which was also the host of the Asia Rugby Championship Division 3 Central Asia tournament), and he confirmed Palestine succeeded in receiving unanimous votes for the upgrade to full membership of Asia Rugby.

President Rabie El Masri said the meetings in Kyrgyzstan were very successful, especially for Palestine Rugby: “We prepared all the needed conditions for our application and now we are full members in Asia Rugby. It is not the end of the work but it is the beginning, more responsibility and more challenges but we are ready for it.”

What we do know was confirmed at the Asia Rugby 2022 Mid-year Council Meeting

In total, delegates from 36 countries took part and some were present in Bishkek while others joined online for the meetings. one of the announcements was to confirm the relocation of the Asian Union headquarters from Hong Kong to Dubai.

Asia Rugby stated via their social media platforms that all resolutions tabled were voted on and adopted unanimously (they don’t declare what these are and minutes of the meetings are not made public, even though transparency is one of their key pillars).
