NTR 10’s Rugby Union League 2021
The Northern Thailand Rugby (NTR) union has announced the details for the NTR 10’s Rugby Union League 2021 which will see two clubs compete for the title.
Thomas Stubley who formed the Lanna Rugby Club and is one of the founders of the NTR and the league told us “Next year it’ll hopefully be bigger, and we’ll have the beginnings of a womens league in Thailand too. Something I’ve been working on.”
There had been plans to expand the number of teams compared to the 2020 season but the COVID-19 situation hampered these plans. “This year due to COVID-19 we could only get three teams involved. Although next season we are hoping for a complete recovery with 5-8 teams”, added Thomas.
UPDATE:
On the eve of the season, Maejo pulled out so only two clubs will be competing. Lanna and Cobras will play a three matches series to determine the 2021 champions.

Rugby in Thailand During COVID-19
None of the major Thailand social rugby tournaments has taken place in 2021, with very few completed in 2020 either. The Bangkok Tens in February 2020 was the last major social tournament in the SEA nation with cancellations of the Pattaya Tens, Phuket Tens, Bangkok Sevens, Southerners Women’s Rugby Tens, RBSC Tens and many more.
