The Macau Bats 5th Annual Mini Rugby Festival takes place this weekend on Saturday, April 13th.
The Macau Rugby Union organises the mini rugby festival. After forming in January 1996 by a group of Portuguese friends and rugby players, the junior club was founded in 2008. From humble beginnings with a few children, the junior section has grown to over 100 players in age groups from Under 6 to Under 16.
Although there is less rugby in Macau than in neighbouring Hong Kong, the Bats still participate in regional tournaments such as the Bangkok International Rugby 10s.
The junior club had just enjoyed joining the Hong Kong Sevens parade this past weekend when coaches and kids get to walk the field in front of a packed crowd at the Hong Kong Stadium.
The Macau Bats 5th Annual Mini Rugby Festival includes age groups from Under 6 to Under 12.
