The women’s 7s rugby tournament is organised by the the Japan Rugby Football Union, and supported by Kitakyushu City and Nanairo Lab.
The organisers told Rugby Asia 247: “We held this tournament three years ago in February 2021, during the coronavirus pandemic. The purpose of this event is to improve the skills of female rugby players in the senior category, with a focus on women’s rugby sevens, as well as to encourage interaction and expand the fan base.
We also hope to raise awareness of rugby among a wide range of age groups through this tournament.”
