KL Saracens Youth Rugby Challenge 2022
Malaysian rugby club KL Saracens are running the KL Saracens Youth Rugby Challenge 2022 on June 5, 2022, with an estimated 64 youth teams involved across seven age groups.
The Kuala Lumpur club is hoping to have 960 players aged between 13-17 at the youth rugby tournament and has also secured 26 match officials and more than 40 volunteers to run the one-day competition.
There is an appeal from the club for potential sponsors to paper on the official tournament apparel – The KL Saracens social media said: “We will host the first youth tournament for clubs and schools after the pandemic era. Slots are fully taken from clubs and schools for our tournament.
We are offering branding advertisement on our official tournament jersey to all organisation who is interested.”
The KL Saracens was formed in 2003 and they previously told Rugby Asia 247 “we founded the club with the sole aim to promote and develop a high standard of youth rugby for everyone in our community, locals and expatriates alike, here in Malaysia.”
English Premiership club Saracens have a number of partner rugby clubs around the globe and the KL Saracens are part of the global network. Prior to the pandemic, the club also organised the KL Saracens 10s Junior Rugby Carnival.
Rugby in Malaysia got underway recently and the national men’s XVs team is also preparing for the Asia Rugby Championship 2022 against Korea and potentially Hong Kong.
