JRFU confirm Brave Blossoms will be based in Toulouse for RWC 2023
The Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) announced that the men’s Brave Blossoms team will be based in Toulouse as the Official Base Camp for Rugby World Cup 2023 in France.
The JRFU added that the city will also play host to two of Japan’s four RWC2023 pool matches at Stadium de Toulouse.
The team has previously prepared and played in the southwestern French city against Tonga, during their European tour in 2017 and Toulouse hosted Japan’s Rugby World Cup 2007 pool match against Fiji.
Brave Blossoms Head Coach Jamie Joseph said: “We are delighted that Toulouse has been selected as our RWC2023 base camp. It will be a great honour to have the people of Toulouse welcome our national team and we would like to thank everyone involved for their kind support.
We were lucky enough to hold a training camp in Toulouse during our 2017 tour, where we were warmly welcomed by the local people and were able to experience the excellent facilities and environment the city has to offer.
We are delighted to be returning to this beautiful city in preparation for RWC2023. Being the centre of French rugby, with a rich history and culture, we are sure that fans who come to Toulouse to support the Brave Blossoms will enjoy their stay and receive the same hospitality that we experienced back in 2017.”
