JRFU Confirm Brave Blossoms vs Uruguay November 2024 Test

After we initially reported several weeks ago that the Japan Brave Blossoms would likely play Uruguay on their European tour in November 2024, the JRFU has confirmed the test will be played at Chambéry Savoy Stadium in France on 16 November as part of a doubleheader of their Lipovitan D Tour 2024.

The national men’s team are currently competing in the  Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup 2024 where they will play Fiji in the final at home on Saturday 21st September 2024.

They next face the All Blacks on 26 October in Yokohama, with their end-of-year European tour including confirmed fixtures against France, Uruguay and England all in November.

Uruguay and Japan will play at 14:30 local time at Chambéry Savoy Stadium, as the first of two fixtures making up an international double-header, with Tonga vs USA following at 17:30 local time. The venue is located an hour-and-half drive east of Lyon.

Brave Blossoms Head Coach, Eddie Jones said, “Uruguay is a fast-developing rugby nation – they play a good style of game which is similar to Argentina. To experience playing against them in Europe will be great for the ongoing development of this young Japan Team.”

Japan has played Uruguay 5 times, and the Brave Blossoms have won four of those. The South Americans faced and lost to France (28-43), Argentina (5-79) and Scotland (19-31) in their mid-year 2024 tests at home.

• 26 October 26 2024 (Nissan Stadium, Yokohama) – Brave Blossoms vs All Blacks 
• TBC Japan vs Maori All Blacks – Australian media reported that this match might take place over the first weekend of November.
• 9 November 2024 (Stade de France, Paris) – France vs Brave Blossoms 
• 16 November (Chambérie Savois Stadium, France) – Japan vs Uruguay *
• 24 November 2024 (Twickenham Stadium, London) – England vs Brave Blossoms
