Jmo Cup Fundraiser Hong Kong
Hong Kong Tag has organised the Jmo Cup, a tag tournament fundraiser, to help fellow Hong Kong rugby player Jonathon Mo, affectionately known as Jmo.
Jmo is in desperate need to raise funds to buy a replacement pacemaker. In total, he needs to raise HKD900,000, and the HK community has announced a few events to help him raise the monies. Jmo made the news when the Tongan 7s team invited to meet him during the Hong Kong 7s in April.
Who is Jonathan Mo?
Mo had ambitions to become a professional rugby player and when he was 19 he completed a three-month trial with the Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan. However a week after the trial he collapsed unexpectedly. Doctors found he has developed a heart condition and needed a pacemaker which also put an end to his pro rugby dreams.
Jonathan did continue to play at a lower level and coached the Valley Mavericks for a short time. In addition, he even represented Hong Kong’s National Tag squad in 2018. Now aged 23, Jmo faces a heart operation in October and has only been given a 40 per cent chance of survival.
What is the Jmo Cup?
