With the completion of the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2019, 16 teams from the men’s World Series descend on Singapore for a crucial 7s tournament after the results in Hong Kong.

As far as the Asian contenders in Singapore, Hong Kong is the invitational team. After narrowly losing the qualifier final in Hong Kong this past weekend, they will be keen to test themselves against the core teams in the HSBC World Sevens Series. They find themselves in a tough pool B with France, Argentina and Australia.

Japan has jumped above Wales by one point on the World Series log after a good performance at the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Series 2019, and will look finish at least above the Welsh in Singapore. Japan is in Pool D with Samoa, NZ and Spain.
