HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens 2019: Guide to all events

The attention of sevens rugby turns to Singapore this coming weekend for the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens 2019. We look at who will be there, what social and rugby events are taking place and what you can do away from the rugby.

HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens 2019 Ambassadors

This year’s HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens Ambassadors include some rugby stars. Fijian “King of Sevens” Waisale Serevi, Australia’s highest-ever internationally capped player George Gregan, former New Zealand Sevens captain DJ Forbes and compatriot Huriana Manuel, the New Zealand Black Ferns captain (who led NZ to the inaugural World Series title and World Champions title in 2013.

The rugby players will be in Singapore from 9 to 14 April and be involved in a number of community events with international and local organisations. These include HSBC and SportCares to promote the sport of rugby sevens.

“South-East Asia is such a strong area of growth for our game, and Singapore provides the perfect destination to grow the game in the region. I am constantly amazed by the passion for the game in Singapore and the growing number of boys and girls that are playing the game each year.” said Serevi.

Wheelchair rugby exhibition match

The Singapore Wheelchair Rugby team is playing against the Indonesian Wheelchair Rugby team in an exhibition game. We think this is a great initiative and are surprised its not part of the main Singapore 7s event schedule.

HSBC Badminton vs Rugby crossover activity w/Derek Wong & Brian O’Driscoll

Titans Ruck & Rumble youth rugby

The Titans Rugby Football Club organise this youth rugby tournament over the Singapore 7s weekend with 10s and 7s rugby for age grades. The finals will be played at the National Stadium forming a part of HSBC Singapore 7s programme on Sunday, 14th April!

Schools U14 7s Tournament Final

Hosted by Saint Andrew’s Secondary School and organized together with the Singapore Rugby Union and Sport Singapore, 12 local rugby schools compete for the U14 7s rugby.

Singapore Sevens 2019 social events

Everyone attending the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens in 2019 can also look forward to a variety of entertainment.

Singapore Sevens Splash Party

Visitors can enjoy flowboarding or swim in the Lazy River at the Splash Party, with music from local artists Joshua Simon, Glen Wee, Joie Tan, Astronauts, M1ldl1fe and Leandra, and opportunities to meet the ambassadors in and around the National Stadium.

FunZone for HSBC Rugby Singapore Sevens

DreamWorks has arranged for family entertainment with stage appearances from Poppy and Branch from the DreamWorks Trolls, meet and greet sessions with DreamWorks’ Trolls, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and free all-day screenings of DreamWorks television series such as Trolls: The Beat Goes On! and Dragons: Race to the Edge.

Singapore Sevens Party

This year the party will be headlined by Smash Mouth on Saturday 13 April. On Sunday 14th April, Broadway’s Rock of Ages Band will be performing 80’s classics.
