HSBC Cape Town 7s 2019
The HSBC World Sevens circuit moves on to South Africa with the HSBC Cape Town 7s 2019 from the 13-15 December 2019. Fiji men won the 7s in Cape Town last year beating the USA in the final but ended 9th in Dubai this past weekend, their lowest ever placing in Dubai.
South Africa won the men’s sevens and NZ claimed the women’s 7s in Dubai.

Men
The Japan men are the invitational team in South Africa but find themselves in an incredibly tough Pool A with Dubai 7s champions South Africa as well as the USA and Fiji. The Japan men’s team lost all three pool games in Dubai against Argentina, Fiji and France. They were well beaten by Wales (38-12) to finish last in Dubai.

Women
The NZ women won in Dubai, and in doing so move to the top of the World Series ranking. The Japanese ladies, as the invitational team, lost all three pool games to NZ, France and England in Dubai. They narrowly lost to Brazil 14-12 to finish 12th. The Japanese women won’t be competing in Cape Town.
