Hong Kong China Select World Rugby U20 Trophy 2023 Squad

HKRU U20 Head Coach Logan Asplin confirmed his Hong Kong China World Rugby U20 Trophy squad which will be held in Kenya from 15 – 30 July 2023.

The coaches held local and global engagement programmes to identify future Hong Kong talent, and Asplin and his management team selected 28 young men for the tour. The HK side is in Pool B with Spain, Samoa, and Kenya and pay their first match on Saturday 15 July 2023 against the Spanish.

Asplin said, “We are fortunate to have a lot of platforms from which to identify our young guns. From local club rugby, the Asia Rugby Championship defence last year, through to the New Year’s Day Tournament, I’m really happy with the player base.

We also have a lot of qualified talent living and training internationally, so it’s great to be engaged with those guys and provide them with the opportunity to represent Hong Kong on the world stage.”

The World Rugby U20 Trophy winners will be promoted to the World Rugby U20 Championship tournament in 2024 which has already been announced and will take place in South Africa.

HK China Fixtures – World Rugby U20 Trophy 2023

Each team will play 3 pool matches between 15 -25 July before the ranking matches and a final on 30 July 2023.

• Matchday 1: Saturday 15 July – Pool Matches (Hong Kong vs Spain – Pool B)
• Matchday 2: Thursday 20 July – Pool Matches (Hong Kong vs Samoa – Pool B)
• Matchday 3: Tuesday 25 July – Pool Matches (Hong Kong vs Kenya – Pool B)
• Matchday 4: Sunday 30 July – Final and ranking matches
