Hanoi 10s 2025 – Everything You Need To Know

The Hanoi 10s 2025 rugby tournament is taking place on 22 March 2025 at the National Sports Training Centre and is a flagship rugby initiative supporting rugby development in Vietnam organised by Đại Việt Rugby. There are 16 teams involved this year coming from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Japan across Women’s and Men’s divisions.

Part of the evolution of the tournament in northern Vietnam is the inclusion of a festival atmosphere in 2025 which includes a greater variety of food and beverages, entertainment and live music.
All funds will go towards supporting the growth of rugby domestically in Vietnam – Johnny Harris, Đại Việt Rugby Founder & Series Director, told Rugby Asia 247.
“We’re trying a new approach this year to infuse the competition with music, Hanoi culture & artists as well as doing some local business spotlights and an exclusive V-VIP zone for the first time, all in the name of trying to create a buzz around community focused rugby, get Vietnamese people engaged and build some momentum for this event to become a mainstay each year.
Growing Rugby in Vietnam – Đại Việt Rugby

Đại Việt Rugby getting attendees accredited as Level 1 World Rugby Match Officials – March 2025
Harris explained that the Hanoi 10s tournament is Đại Việt Rugby’s flagship portfolio piece and they hope to utilise the momentum created through this event to continue to do more community-focused work with the ‘Kids, Community & Clinics’ program set to launch ahead this Summer.
“Since the inception of Đại Việt Rugby in mid-2024, we’ve run a domestic league structure with a rugby 7s focus in northern Vietnam and for the first time ever and also ran a World Rugby Match Official L1 course in the country where we accredited 10 new referees, 7 of whom are Vietnamese and 6 were female.
Two of the Match Officials have been on a development plan for some time now and will take charge of the women’s division at the Hanois 10s 2025, while 4 new young female Vietnamese officials who just were accredited will get some experience as Assistant Referees. This is huge for our long term development & sustainability goals.”
Looking ahead, they will be working with the Saigon Geckos rugby club in Saigon between April & May 2025 to run another World Rugby Match Official L1 course.
Johhny Harris added, “We’ll bring our newly qualified Vietnamese refs down to help run the competition. All of these are massive steps for us in creating community, developing rugby administrators and ultimately growing the game here in Vietnam.”
