The Globe 7s Series 2019 in the Philippines, supported by Philippines Rugby Football Union, starts this weekend on the 3rd August.
What is the Globe 7s Series?
The Philippines Globe Sevens Series 2019 is used to promote local development rugby talent in the country. In 2018 the Globe Series was played across Rugby 6 festivals including:
- Palawan 7s
- Kadawayan 7s Festival (Davao)
- FatBoys 10s (Clark)
- Cebu 10s
Last years Globe 7s Series saw an Open Division and a National Development Division for the men.
In 2018 Philippines Rugby said “The National Development division will showcase up and coming Pinoy talent, a platform to identify future Volcanoes and act as a recruitment tool for local Rugby development. The Open division will feature the country’s top players mixed with key players from the National Development division.”
Who plays the Globe 7s Series?
In 2018, the following teams took part in the development sevens rugby Series:
- Santos Knight Frank Mavericks
- Eagles RFC
- Bulacan Bombers
- Albay Bulkans
- Clark Jets
- Makati Chiefs
- La Liga Academy
The Vermosa Sports Ground is the venue for the 1st round of the 2019 Globe Sevens Series as part of the National Development Division.
