Global Youth Sevens 2023 – Japan’s U18 Girls SDS Confirmed
The Global Youth Sevens 2023 will see two events take place, as the annual Rugby 7s tournament continues to showcase the best Under 18 sevens rugby talent. Over recent years, development teams from Japan have participated and Japan’s U18 Girls Sevens Development Squad is set to join again in 2023 after winning the title in 2022.

The annual youth 7s rugby tournament, which used to be called The World School Sevens, has been in existence since 2016 and has two U18 youth sevens events planned in 2023. The inaugural Global Youth Sevens sees the first event take place on the Gold Coast in Australia from 9-10 December, and then a second event in Auckland, NZ from 15-17th December 2023.
The Global Youth 7s event has seen over 120 teams compete over the last eight years with over fifty players going onto higher honours, the organisers told Rugby Asia 247.
Global Youth Sevens 2023 Teams Confirmed
The Gold Coast event will see 22 teams compete and the Auckland event will see a record 52 teams involved!
“The Japan Girls team will look to defend their title in Auckland, New Zealand after winning the 2022 event beating the New Zealand U18 and Australian U18 sides to claim the title,” said Phil Gaze from Next Generation Sport.
The tournament will feature national representative teams and composite teams including New Zealand Tongans, New Zealand Samoans and NZ Niue, Australia U18 girls and boys, USA Girls and Japan U18 girls SDS.
There is also an Asian Dragons team listed but we have no further details.
Global Youth Sevens 2023 Girls Pools
Japan U18 are confirmed to play Pasefika Hawaii, HBR Tonga, and the Renegades in Pool H in Auckland.

All matches from the Global Youth Sevens 2023 will be broadcast live on Sky TV in New Zealand, and on various other international broadcasters in Australia, across the Pacific and North America.
