Global Rapid Rugby: Asian Pacific Dragons reveal team lineup
The Global Rapid Rugby (GRR) Asian Showcase Series will see the Asian Pacific Dragons (APD) play their first game on Friday 12th April in Perth, WA as they play favourites Western Force.
The Australian franchise has won their first two games against a World 15s and the Hong Kong-based South China Tigers, albeit both games were played at home. The ADP seem less organised than the Hong Kong franchise (the lack of a website and minimal social media coverage) and will go into their fixture as underdogs, which may well suit the side filled with New Zealand and Pacific Island players.
The Singapore based franchise has plenty of firepower and a number of Otago NPB players are in the squad. These include Halfbacks Kurt Hammer, Taniela Koroi and hooker Sekonaia Pole, loose forward Naulia Dawai, backs Zac Harrison-Jones and winger Mitchell Scott.
Not only has the Asian Pacific Dragons build up been flying under the radar, but RugbyWA chairman John Edwards has already expressed concerns at the lowering number of fans attending the games in Perth according to The West.
