The Hong Kong Pot Bellied Pigs RFC and Hong Kong China Rugby Union will be jointly hosting the Fat Boy 10s tournament 2024 in Hong Kong on Saturday 13th April at Kings Park in Kowloon.
There will be a Social Men’s (6 teams) Womens (6 teams) and Men’s Vets (9 teams) competition with games kicking off at 10 am.
“The Piggie’s and HKCR are all about the wider community so we want to make sure that this will be a day for all the family; food will be available all day with the occasional beer/glass of wine for the adults and soft drinks for kids.”
The tournament will follow the same Fat Boy 10s format that has been held at the Challenger Field in Clark, the Philippines. There was meant to be a Hong Kong edition in September 2023 but it was called off due to extreme weather.
Ross Bendix, one of the long-standing tournament organisers/directors, told Rugby Asia 247: “The Fat Boy 10s is a brand that is more well-known for the event we hold in the Philippines every year until the pandemic hit, and we will be back in Clark in September 2024.
This particular edition in Hong Kong has a full complement of teams and we will have the domestic helpers come and play an exhibition game during the day too. We also have the Love 21 Foundation coming over which will be great.”
Bendix added about what to expect, “It’s a fun day out, and for people in Hong Kong to come together and celebrate rugby and raise some money for a good cause and help put the spot back on the map after COVID.”
Men’s Open Rugby 10’s
The Men’s action will be played on Pitch 1 following the Fat Boy 10’s competition programme of a Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield competition.

Intended for players 35 years and above, the action on pitch 2 is a winner-takes-all-all Cup competition with a trophy also for the runners-up – there are 9 teams in the Vets in 2024.
