Fat Boy 10s tournament 2023 – Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Pot Bellied Pigs RFC and Hong Kong Rugby Union have announced details of the Fat Boy 10s tournament 2023 which will be held in Hong Kong on 9th September.

Update 8th September 2023 – The tournament has been cancelled but a new date might be found. The organisers posted the following:

“It’s with much regret and a heavy heart that Ross and I have to inform you that the Fat Boy 10’s Hong Kong rugby tournament to be held tomorrow is cancelled. We have been advised by the Hong Kong China Rugby Union in the last hour that due to flooding of the clubhouse and failure of the site’s electricity system, Kings Park will not be in a playable condition tomorrow….

The Pot Bellied pigs are already actively working with the HKCRU to find an alternative date for the competition and we hope once rearranged you will all be able to take part in the tournament. We had prepared a special playing shirt commemorating the Rugby World Cup and we are actively preparing online access for you all should you like to buy the kit and make a contribution to our good causes.

The Social Tens rugby tournament was due to be played at Kings Park and feature Social Men’s, Ladies and Men’s Vets rugby.

The organisers said: “The Piggies and HKRU would like to invite all clubs in Hong Kong to participate and get involved…The Piggie’s and HKRU are all about the wider community so we want to make sure that this will be a day for all the family; food will be available all day with the occasional beer/glass of wine for the adults and soft drinks for kids.”

The Fat Boy Tens returned to the Philippines in 2023 for the first time since the pandemic, at Challenger Field in Clark Philippines.
