Everything to Know For the Arab Rugby Sevens Championship 2025
The Arab Rugby Sevens Championship 2025 will be the 10th Men’s & 5th Women’s edition of the tournament, and will be held from 14-15 February at the Alexandria Stadium in Egypt – the tournament features several teams from Asia, and in total, 12 nations are involved.
The organisers said, “The Arab Rugby 7s Championship 2025 is set to take place at the historic Alexandria Stadium, built in 1929! This annual championship returns for its 10th edition for men and 5th for women, as athletes from across the Arab world unite in this historic venue.”
A specially designed ball from World Flair will be used during the tournament, which they say is “distinguished by its unique design inspired by authentic Arabic motifs, to reflect the region’s rich cultural identity, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance approved internationally.”

Women’s Pools – Arab 7s 2025
Initially, in total, 8 rugby nations were to be involved in the Women’s 2025 edition of the Arab Rugby Sevens Championship but the final pools only feature 7s sides (with Libya dropping); Tunisia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt (the host country). The Tunisia women won the 2024 title held in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
Pool A
- Tunisia – Defending champions and have won three of four women’s tournaments held thus far.
- Syria – The women have competed in all of the Championships and secured top-four finishes in all of them – they were 4th in 2024.
- Lebanon – Al Ayash Sabah will captain the women’s team for Lebanon and five of the announced 12-person squad are based overseas. After an absence of 5 years from the international championships, the Lebanese Women’s team participated in the 2024 edition and was placed fifth in the Arab Championship in Saudi Arabia.
- Saudi Arabia – Made their debut at the 2024 tournament.
Pool B
- UAE – They have finished runners-up twice and third twice. They also competed in the top-flight Asia Rugby Sevens Series in 2024. The Tunisian and Egyptian women held a camp in preparation for the 2025 tournament.
- Egypt – The Egyptian women finished third at the Arab Rugby Sevens Championship 2023 and 2024 (they have finished in the top three in all of the tournaments to date). The women’s team captain is Hala Qoura and the coach of the team is Tunisan Romzy Al-Zaghulami who previously won the tournament with the Tunisian national team in the Arab Rugby Sevens Championship in 2022.
- Jordan – The Jordanian women have participated in 3 Arab Rugby 7s championships (2019, 2023 and 2024). The team captain is Hello Amr and they finished 6th place in 2024.
Men’s Pools – Arab 7s 2025
Pool A
- Morocco – Defending champions and it was their 4th title in the championship.
- Saudi Arabia – Their best result in the championship is 4th back in 2015.
- Libya – The side is captained by Malek Alhowety.
- Syria – Their best result in the championship is 4th back in 2021, and they have competed in every Championship since then – finishing 9th in 2024.
- Palestine – The Palestine men have competed in five Arab 7s Championships and they placed 10th in 2024.
Pool B
- UAE – The men’s side has competed in the Asie Rugby Sevens Series for the past two seasons. They were runners-up in Saudi Arabia in 2024 and have finished in the top four in every one of the men’s editions of the Arab Rugby Sevens Championship.
- Egypt – The Egyptian men are captained by Saif Sanbati, while the team coach is also Romzy Al-Zaghulami. The men placed 4th in the Arab Sevens Rugby Championship in 2023 and 2024.
- Jordan – The Jordan Men’s team captain is Ismael Jambik – they placed 8th in the Asian Rugby Sevens Trophy in 2024 but have previously won the Arab 7s tournament in 2019.
- Iraq – The Iraqi men’s team captain is Mustafa Abdul Hassan and they finished fourth in the Arab 7s Championship in 2023 & 2024. They held a two-day training camp in Mashhad, Iran in preparation for the Arab Sevens Championship this year.
- Lebanon – Mike Tawk will captain the men’s Lebanon team which includes 5 players who play abroad.
