David Wilks Set To Join KL Tigers As Director of Rugby

The KL Tigers have announced that the current Head of the Leicester Tigers Academy in the UK, David Wilks, be joining the Malaysian club as Director of Rugby in September 2025.
The KL Tigers said; “We’re thrilled to announce that David Wilks will be joining us. David has played a key role in developing numerous England internationals through the Leicester Tigers Academy and has also coached the Leicester Tigers’ first team during the 2024-2025 season….We’re incredibly fortunate to have someone as experienced as Dave joining us in KL.”
The KL Tigers was formed in 2014 and has 500 players across all of its playing groups and was the first official Global Partner Club of Leicester Tigers.
KL Tigers add that Wilks has worked with them over the past decade and helped build their global partner club with Leicester and that in his role, Wilks will oversee all on-field rugby activities across the entire club.
Wilks said via the UK club; “I feel privileged to have worked at Tigers for the last decade, I have learnt so much from the club and some amazing people along the way. When I was asked to come to Tigers it was my dream job, and it still is, but the time is right for me to step away and start this new chapter with my family abroad.
The Academy has strong foundations and I will do everything I can between now and the end of the season to ensure our success continues into the future.”
Wilks added of the move to KL Tigers, “I am excited about not only the life experience this move offers myself and my family but also the opportunity to work with KL Tigers and the team out there in Malaysia, while remaining connected to Leicester Tigers through the Global Partner programme.”
Leicester Tigers Chief Executive Officer Andrea Pinchen added, “While we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him and his family for their next chapter, very pleased to continue the relationship with him through KL Tigers and know that the work being done in Malaysia will only improve through his addition.”
KL Tigers International 10s 2025
