Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025 On Course For Largest-Ever Crowd

The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025 organisers have announced they are on track to sell the most tickets in the tournament’s history as the iconic Sevens is due to be hosted at the new Kai Tak Stadium for the first time with an increased 50-000 person capacity.
With the tournament only a few weeks away and taking place from 28-30 March, more than 115,000 tickets have been sold for the three-day event which includes a mix of world-class sports and entertainment. The tournament was also sold out in 2024 when the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2024 reached full house for the first time since the pandemic and for the last time to be staged at the Hong Kong Stadium in Causeway Bay.
In total, 38,500 three-day passes have already been sold, for a cumulative total of 115,500 individual tickets. The tournament’s official community partner, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, will be hosting 5,000 students at the Sevens on the opening day of the Sevens which increases the individual crowd tally to 120,000 and will exceed the configuration of the former venue. The Kai Tak the daily capacity for the tournament in 2025 will be around 47,000.
Full house for Hong Kong Sevens Corporate Suites

Hong Kong China Rugby have confirmed that all of their corporate hospitality suites for the 2025 tournament weekend sold out months ago and that the new venue at Kai Tak has also allowed the organisers to increase the number of temporary corporate boxes built on the East side of the Stadium from 98 to 138, which currently are 99 per cent sold.

Revenues from the tournament are put right back into the sport and the Hong Kong community, and we are grateful for the support of our fans from around the world.
It is a great honour for the Sevens to be the first international sporting event to be held in the new Kai Tak Stadium, and we are excited to be bringing a show and a crowd worthy of this once-in-a-lifetime moment,” said Bryan Rennie.

Live Music & DJs
With the impending biggest HK 7s Sevens crowd ever, Hong Kong China Rugby has been preparing the world’s biggest rugby party and announced international recording artists Kaiser Chiefs, Pete Tong and Gala will perform over the weekend on the 18-metre-wide stage overlooking the re-imagined South Stand at Kai Tak. In addition, there are more than 20 DJs and bands who will be playing over the weekend in the new Fan Village.
The Champion Bar
The Champion Bar is located inside the stadium and is one of Asia’s longest bars.
Melrose Claymores
The women’s and men’s Hong Kong China Sevens teams will again partake in the Melrose Claymores matches across the weekend and take on some of the best opponents in Asia (Japanese and Chinese men, and Thailand and Kazakhstan women).
Retractable Roof – Kai Tak Stadium
The retractable dome at Kai Tak Stadium will also play a key role in the weekend’s entertainment plans and it is due to be closed on Friday for the tournament’s opening ceremony which will feature a “modern twist as traditional Lion Dances meet laser light shows as Kai Tak transforms into the world’s largest club on Friday evening.”
Tournament-Ending Pyrotechnics
The roof will be closed on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate the festival feel, which will reach a crescendo with the biggest-ever pyrotechnics display in Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens history on Sunday night.

Tickets are available online for the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025 for fans hoping to catch world-class live music acts and three non-stop days of entertainment at rugby’s biggest party.
- An adult three-day ticket includes 72 matches of sevens action from 30 world-class teams for HKD $1,950.
- Children’s tickets for fans aged 12 and under are available on a first-come, first-served basis at HKD $950.
