Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2024 Star-Studded Line-up Of Ambassadors
The Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2024 organisers have confirmed a list of rugby stars set to be featured at the Hong Kong Stadium as ambassadors as the venue bids farewell to hosting the iconic event from 5-7 April 2024 after 30 years.
Two of the tournament’s all-time “Magnificent 7” team members will return to Hong Kong as Fiji’s Waisale Serevi and Australia’s David Campese are both confirmed. The two Hong Kong Sevens legends were voted into the all-time tournament team by the fans in 2015 and will headline a team of Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens ambassadors set to engage with fans during Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Week.
Serevi is synonymous with the Hong Kong Stadium, making his Hong Kong Sevens debut in 1989, before winning two Rugby World Cup Sevens tournaments in Hong Kong in 1997 and 2005. He was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame right at the ground in 2013.
David ‘Campo’ Campese played at the HK Sevens 12 times, helping Australia’s historic run during the 1980s, when they won four cups in seven years! The famed goosestep helped him to 64 tries from 101 tests for the Wallabies and he is a Member of the Order of Australia and an inductee into the World Ruby Hall of Fame.
