Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2024 On Track To Sell Out
The Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2024 is on track to sell out for the first time since the pandemic as fans clammer for a last visit to the tournament to be held at the Hong Kong Stadium before it moves to the new Kai Tak Stadium in 2025.
The ticket sales update revealed that 34,000 General Admission 3-day passes have been sold, accounting for over 85% of the total capacity based on the event’s seating configuration.
Ticket sales from overseas account for 42% of the total in 2024, nearly doubling from 23% in 2023 and 3% in 2022 during the pandemic.
Robbie McRobbie, CEO of Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) said, “With a month to go and only a few thousand tickets left, we believe that the tournament is on track to return to its pre-pandemic sell out status and are confident to bid the Stadium a good farewell with another weekend of Hong Kong Sevens magic.”
With HSBC SVNS and the Melrose Shield Competition contested from 5-7 April 2024, fans will be treated to 74 matches of sevens action from 30 world-class teams, and be entertained with two hours of world-class live music, and three non-stop days of entertainment,
The HK 7s event will bid farewell to one iconic venue before the move to another at Kai Tak next year – so the 2024 edition holds additional significance – and a rugby fan’s ultimate bucket list moment.
