Capgemini Signs on as Rugby India Sevens Sponsor
Rugby India was pleased to announce this past week that Capgemini has agreed to sponsor Rugby India’s 7s Women & Girls, and Men & Boys teams.
Capgemini India said via a Tweet to announce the groundbreaking sponsorship”Continuing our mission of promoting diversity and inclusion, on and off the field, we are proud to be acknowledged as the Associate Sponsor for the Indian Rugby 7s Team at today’s launch event, in association with the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU).”
Rugby India CEO Nasser Hussain said following the event: “Being a legacy sponsor of World Rugby, their interest to associate with Rugby in India is testament to their global commitment to the sport and also to the work being undertaken by Rugby India to spread the sport across the country.”
Ashwin Yardi, CEO of Capgemini India also added via LinkedIn: “Capgemini has a deep and historic connection with Rugby. Our founder Serge Kampf was very passionate about the sport and all that it represented, and since then, Rugby has been in our DNA.
This year, we’re taking our commitment further, and I’m delighted to announce that we’re partnering with the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU), and sponsoring Rugby India’s 7s Women & Girls, and Men & Boys teams. This partnership marks our entry into sports in India and reinforces our commitment to promoting diversity on the field as well.”
Capgemini Supporting Rugby
World Rugby’s reaction was to praise the move and they said via the socials “Great to see Capgemini, our Global Partner of Women in Rugby and Worldwide Partner of Rugby World Cups 2021 and 2025, forming a strong partnership with the Indian Rugby Football Union to help grow the game.”
In March 2022, Capgemini become a Global Partner of Women in Rugby and a Worldwide Partner of Rugby World Cups 2021 and 2025. The company is also World Rugby’s Global Digital Transformation Partner for RWC 2023 in France.
Capgemini has been supporting women’s rugby since 2018 as a Global Partner of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
