British Chamber of Commerce Singapore: Rugby World Cup Gala Dinner 2019

The British Chamber of Commerce Singapore has announced a Rugby World Cup 2019 gala dinner which will be held on September 12th 2019.

The RWC 2019 takes place in Japan and is the first rugby world cup to be held in Asia. We are sure to see more rugby-related events around Asia announced in the build-up to the rugby showpiece event. The World Cup kicks off on September 20th.

Who will be at the BritCham Singapore RWC 2019 Gala Dinner?

Three former professional England, Ireland and New Zealand All Black players have been confirmed for the event.

Brian Moore

The former England (64 caps) and British and Irish Lion (5 caps) was also the 1991 Rugby World Player of the Year. He is also a well-known rugby writer, and podcasts about the sport. In addition, Brian is a broadcast pundit as well as a former radio presenter.

Shane Byrne

Byrner is a former rugby union hooker who was capped 41 times by Ireland and the British and Irish Lions. He also played over 100 times for Leinster and played for Saracens in England

Eric Rush

Eric Rush played 9 tests for the All Blacks in the early 1990s and is well known as a Sevens rugby player at which he represented New Zealand for 16 years. He captained them to a Gold Medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur,  the World Sevens Title championship victory in 2000, World Cup championship in 2001, and the 2002 Olympic Games gold. Rush also played NZ touch rugby.

Justin Sampson

The emcee for the evening will be Justin Sampson who is a well-known rugby commentator who has previously lived in Asia for a number of years.

The British Chamber of Commerce Singapore promises a “full 3-course dinner in an evening of entertainment hosted by Rugby commentator Justin Sampson on which includes an auction, raffle prizes and a lucky draw.”

Cambodian based Kampuchea Balopp is the beneficiary partner of the event. Hong Kong Rugby has also announced a dinner for the England rugby team in October.
