Borneo 7s International Rugby Tournament 2025

The 20th edition of the Borneo 7s International Rugby Tournament 2025 will be held from 19-20 April at the Eagles Rugby Club, Sandakan and will feature several national or representative teams from the Asian region. The Borneo Sevens is sanctioned by the Malaysia Rugby Union and Asia Rugby.

This tournament has over the two decades attracted several high-calibre sevens rugby teams, including national 7s and development teams from Asia and the Pacific.

The Borneo Sevens Junior Carnival is being run in the build-up to the 20th Borneo Sevens tournament with contact rugby for U18 Girls and Boys & U15 Boys, and touch rugby for U12 Boys as well as U8 and U15 Girls being played from 17-18 April 2025

Borneo Sevens International Rugby Tournament 2025 Pools

There are teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Uzbekistan, UAE, Thailand, China, and Australia competing in the 2025 edition of the Borneo 7s tournament.

Men’s Pools

New Zealand’s Cavaliers are the current holders of the Men’s Borneo 7s Cup when they defeated the host team Borneo Eagles in the 2024 final – the NZ Cavaliers are not competing in 2025.

Women’s Pools

The inaugural Women Sevens event at the Borneo 7s was held in 2008 but then was only re-introduced in 2017.  The host team are the Borneo Flyers who are a mix of Sabah and NZ players and they are the defending champions from 2024.

There is a dedicated YouTube channel for previous tournaments, and they have live-streamed in the past. They said via their FB page that the tournament will be available on CH802 Astro Arena or their YouTube channel.
