Borneo 7s International Club Rugby 2019 confirms entered teams
The Borneo 7s takes place in a few weeks time, from 23rd-24th March, and the organisers have confirmed the 20 teams set to compete for the prestigious Cup in Malaysia.
Rugby teams from 12 countries will compete in this year’s Borneo Sevens International Clubs Rugby Tournament, organised by Eagles Rugby Club and held the home of the Borneo Eagles.
The Daily Express reported that State Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Frankie Poon “praised Eagles Rugby Club for their efforts in successfully bringing such a high-level tournament to Sabah, particularly Sandakan.”
The Minister revealed the 20 teams as being the following:

Organising Chairman of the Borneo 7s rugby tournament Vela Tan, who is also the Deputy President of Malaysia Rugby Association and a committee member of Asia Rugby said “The Borneo 7s has moved up to a level where it is recognised by Asia Rugby. With the tournament getting the nod from Asia Rugby, we can expect even stronger foreign teams participating.”

In 2018 Iconz Rugby (Australia) won the men’s cup final whereas the Hong Kong Dragons won the ladies cup.
