Bangkok International Rugby 7s Tournament For Sale

The long-running Bangkok International Rugby 7s Tournament was put up for sale by its organsiers in March 2024, citing “increasing workloads of both primary shareholders’.

The Bangkok International Rugby 7s Tournament organisers said online; “We are proud to have run the BKK7’s tournament for 10 years (6 years with an actual tournament) and grown the game of Rugby in SE Asia. We thank our sponsors, supporters and suppliers.”

Having started in 1995, there have been some cancellations in recent years due to the pandemic and clashes with the Thailand Rugby Union events. Based on the tournament’s website, more than 200 international and 280 Thai-based rugby teams have competed in the Bangkok Sevens over the years. Teams have come from more than 20 countries including; Oceania, Scotland, USA, Dubai, South Africa etc.

Usually taking place towards the end of the year, it is timed when there are several other social 7s and 10s rugby tournaments taking place in the region in November and it  has been held at the Bangkok Patana School over recent years.

In 2023, the Helios Bangkok International Rugby Sevens Tournament 2023 was held from November 11-12 2023 with a new title sponsor and expanded to include youth age grades which included a Kidster Tens rugby tournament for Boys Under 16, Under 14, Under 12, Under 10 & Under 8.
