The first leg of the shortened Asia Rugby Sevens Series 2023 will take place at the Asiad Namdong Stadium in Incheon, South Korea from 26-27 August.
The ARSS features the top 8 men’s and 8 women’s sevens nations in the Asian region and in 2023 will be played across two legs, starting with Korea and then in Thailand (14-15 October).
HKCR Men and China Women are the defending champions from 2022 and in the previous years, the final standings in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series determined which teams also qualify for the Challenger Sevens Series. In 2022 HKCR and South Korean men, as well as the China, Thailand, and Kazakhstan women did so (both Japanese men and women were in the HSBC World Sevens Series).
A number of national teams come into the season with new coaching staff and high stakes with the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers and the Asian Games also being played before the end of 2023.
