Asia rugby results: 11-12th May 2019
We wrap all the results from social rugby, internationals, touch rugby and more from across Asia for the weekend of May 11-12th 2019.
HSBC Women’s World Series: Langford (Canada)
China was the only Asian team competing in the 7s at Langford. On Day 1 they had a torrid time and lost their pool games to England 38-0, NZ 45-0 and Russia 33-12. Day two was much better for the Chinese 7s ladies, beating Ireland in the Challenge Semifinal 19-12 and then just losing to Fiji 26-19 in the Challenge Trophy final. The Langford was won by table-topping NZ Black Ferns who beat Australia 21-17 in the Cup final.
The final round of the HSBC Women’s Sevens World Series takes place in Biarritz, France from the 15-16th June 2019.

International Friendlies
Singapore Ladies vs Hong Kong A
The Hong Kong Women’s A team beat the Singapore national team 34-5 in Singapore in a friendly match.

Singapore Men vs Hong Kong A
The Singapore Men also went down to the Hong Kong Men’s A team 38-7 in a friendly.

Philippines Residents vs Guam
The Philippines Residents XV beat the visiting Guam national team in the Philippines 22 – 18. Guam was leading 15-7 at the half time break. Guam now moves on to Thailand to take part in the Asia Rugby Championship Division 2 with UAE, Thailand and Kazakhstan.

Super Rugby: Sunwolves
The Sunwolves played the ACT Brumbies in Australia and suffered early injury setbacks and eventually lost 0-33. The Japanese franchise remains bottom of the Australian conference.

Global Rapid Rugby: Asia Showcase Series 2019
The Hong Kong South China Tigers played their final GRR game of the season at home against table-topping Western Force from Australia on Sunday 12th May and lost 16-40. The Force now head into the Pacific Showcase Series against teams from Fiji and Samoa after winning the Asia Showcase Series 2019

Japan Wolfpack vs ACT Brumbies Runners
The Japanese RWC training squad, the Wolfpack, secured another big win; this time over the ACT Brumbies Runners from Australia 66-17. This follows up wins against the Global Rapid Rugby side Western Force 51-38, Highlanders B side 46-21, and Hurricanes B team 66-21.

Xiamen Gulangyu Tens 2019
Possible the biggest social rugby tens in China was decided on May 11th at the Xiamen Gulangyu Tens 2019. From what we can gather, the 8th ranked Chongqing Rangers won the Cup at the Xiamen Gulangyu Tens 2019.
Friendly social rugby tour games
Seoul Survivors RFC
The Seoul Survivors RFC combined with players from Stars & Stripes played a triangular Super Saturday rugby friendly with the Korea University and touring Hong Kong Typhoons on the 11th May 2019.

Saigon Geckos
The HCMC based club hosted the Hong Kong Police rugby on Saturday 11th May for a friendly XVs rugby game. The Geckos won the game 7 tries to 1, following up their recent Indochina Cup triumph. The Geckos will host the HK Aberdeen Angels on Saturday 18th May.
