2025 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Fan Village Details And Ambassadors Confirmed

With the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025 the next leg of the SVNS Series from 28-30 March 2025, details of the transformation of the new Kai Tak Sports Park’s East Village area into a brand-new Fan Village as well as the tournament ambassadors have been announced.

Ticketholders of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025 will be among the first to enjoy the state-of-the-art and first-ever Hong Kong Sevens at the new Kai Tak Stadium but ticket holders can also experience the Fan Village.
The 7,800-square foot attraction offers a relaxing open-air multi-use space that will be home to fan experience activations from co-title sponsors Cathay and HSBC among other partners.
Fans can also pick up merch from Castore, who were recently announced official merchandise partner of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, who will debut their retail experience and a flagship store in the Village.
Meet Your Ambassadors – Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025
Fans will be able to grab autographs and selfies with the stars in the Village, including prearranged meet and greets with teams, including Hong Kong China men’s and women’s 7s and chances to meet Hong Kong China Rugby’s Hong Kong Sevens ambassadors, as well as the tournament ambassadors.
- Waisale Serevi (Fiji) – The ‘little magician’ played in Hong Kong 16 times and has coached teams at the HK Sevens. He was most recently head coach of the India Women’s and Men’s Sevens teams in 2024
- DJ Forbes (New Zealand) – The former New Zealand Sevens captain and Olympian played 450 matches for New Zealand Sevens, scoring 153 tries and is New Zealand Sevens’ Men’s second all-time scoring leader and a World Rugby International Sevens Player of the Year and 3x winner of New Zealand’s Rugby Sevens Player of the Year winner. He also signed on as a ChildFund Rugby ambassador in 2025.
- Cecilia Quansah (GB) – Former Olympian (2020) and Leicester Tigers rugby player
- Tyla King (New Zealand) – 2023 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year and New Zealand’s dual-code sevens and rugby league international retires from Sevens after winning her second Olympic gold in 2024. She retired as the highest women’s point scorer in the history of the sevens series.
- Schalk Burger (South Africa) – The former World Rugby Player of the Year and 2007 Rugby World Cup winner is attending as part of the Laureus Sport for Good programme.
- “Big” Jim Hamilton and Andy Goode (Scotland and England) – Hosts of The Rugby Pod and former international 5s players.
- Christy Cheng Ka-chi and Salom Yiu Kam-shing – Both are Hong Kong China’s rugby legends and former representatives.
What Will The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Fan Village 2025 Be Offering?
- The family-friendly area will have a dedicated kids zone complete with giant inflatables, alongside the Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) community and sports activities.
- Food and beverage stands.
- Three garden lounges and the signature bar of the tournament’s official beer.
- Beanbag seating and all matches are shown live on the big screen inside the Village.
Music At The Fan Village
In addition to the headliners at the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025, there will be a full roster of bands and DJs keeping the hits coming across the weekend at the Fan Village.
- The stage inside the Village will see 15 local bands and six different DJ acts entertaining the crowd including the Red Stripes, Helium 3 and Hong Kong’s rugby DJ Ben Cullen.
- There will be roaming entertainers and sponsor and tournament mascots.

There will be a range of HKCR and event community partnership activations in the FanVillage in 2025’s busiest rugby sevens weekend. These include partners:
